Community Clubs Set to Steal the Show at This Weekends SubiacoFamily Fun Day
This Saturday 9th June Subiaco FC take on East Fremantle at Leederville Oval. With the League team looking to remain undefeated it is sure to be a cracking game of football. However, the League game will not be the showstopper event of the day. Subiaco FC together with the Subiaco Football District will be presenting the 2018 Family Fun Day event this weekend.
The day will feature the exciting Kids zone from 12.30pm which includes the face painting stall. Families from the whole Subiaco Football District community can retrieve their free family pass for entry to the game, these can be found via your junior club if you are a registered player, or printing off your pass via the download below.
Our Junior clubs are set to steal the show as they will take to the field before bouncedown of the main game at 2.00pm for the annual Junior Club Parade. The clubs will gather as many members as they can and march around Leederville oval in their colours with the best represented club winning a prize judged by our DFDC on the day. The fun does not stop here as our 7 club Presidents will team up with three year-5 players from their club to compete in the half time Presidents Relay. The winning club will receive a signed Subiaco FC QBE jumper which has been donated by the Subiaco FC to celebrate it’s 34-year partnership with QBE.
Kingsley JFC will represent the District in the half time Little League match led by Little League legend Kevin Hill, and the District will band together a team of its year 7/8 Junior girl’s players to do battle with a West Perth District team for the Women’s half time Little League match featuring the Subiaco Women’s v West Perth Women’s FC.
Last year saw over 5000 people attend the day and this year is set to be even bigger. District Development Officer Matt Debarro had this to say. “With Balga JFC taking home the prize in 2017 for the best represented club, it will be interesting to see who will take home the cookies this year. I am anticipating a fantastic turn out this year. The Family Fun Day is a great opportunity for clubs to promote themselves in front of the whole community as well as reconnect with the WAFL club. Kids will get the chance to watch their Subiaco FC heroes play at the top level in WA and showcase the pathway to our District’s up and coming Lions of the future.”
Subiaco FC’s Marketing Manager Cameron Palmer commented ahead of the weekends big event. “We are proud to work together with the District to deliver this event. Our Juniors are the future of our club and we want them to be a part of the present culture and success the club is having. Hopefully this can inspire them to keep playing and enjoying their football and one day represent the club in the WAFL.”
The Colts game will commence from 8.45am with the reserves game following at 11.15am. the main game will start at 2.15pm whilst the women’s match will conclude the day with bouncedown at 5.00pm. Do not miss your chance to check out what is one of the biggest events on the Subiaco District calendar for 2018.
