Thumbs Up For Successful Holiday Clinic

Thursday, July 12, 2018 - 10:37 AM

On Monday 9th July 2018 the Subiaco District held its July School Holiday Clinic at Carine Open Space. After the kids have worked hard during school, there is nothing better than getting outside and being able to kick the footy with the WAFL’s current top team, the Subiaco Lions.

The participants engaged in different activity stations around the oval. WAFL stars from the Subiaco Lions shared their knowledge and experience with the kids, helping them better their kicking, handballing, marking and game sense skills. Subiaco District Community Development Officer Jesse Tippet commented, “It was awesome witnessing the kids get stuck in to the activities and engage so heavily with the WAFL players. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a pre-primary take the biggest screamer I think I’ve seen in 4 years.” After a short morning tea break the kids then went out and show cased their new skills in some matches, umpired by their WAFL heroes.

The kids were brought in after 4 quarters of fun and were given the opportunity to ask their Subiaco Lions heroes some questions. The players then challenged the kids with some questions of their own, awarding right answers with a Subiaco football to take home. The day was a great success, all the kids left with a smile on their face proving just how much they love their footy, and how an opportunity to learn from their heroes goes a long way.
