On Tuesday December 11th, the WAFC Metro North staff hosted key football volunteers at the annual Sundowner event. Junior club Presidents, committee members, DFDC representatives and JCC members attended a night of fellowship to celebrate another season of football.
The event took place at Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club where the theme of the night was set by the beautiful summer weather and an ocean view that was second to none. The three districts conducted their monthly JCC meetings before coming together for a formal presentation where Community Development Manager Andrew Ridley addressed some changes to junior football for the upcoming 2019 season; Andrew also introduced the newest member to the Metro North team Matt Neves who has replaced Callum Warner in the Competitions & Club Development Team Leader Role. Andrew closed the presentation by commending all the volunteers from our 28 clubs and our 3 DFDC’s and JCC’s on their hard work and achievements in 2018.
Guests then enjoyed a meal together which saw the infamous Tow-Bar-B-Q put on a spread that was fit for kings and queens alike. Some live music was also enjoyed by all, and our club volunteers took the chance to enjoy each other’s company in a festive manner to wrap up the year that was. Subiaco District Development Officer Matt Debarro had this to say “It is always great to be able to connect with our key club and district volunteers on a social level. It has been a long hard but successful season in 2018, so to get the chance to celebrate it with those who have helped us play a major role in delivering football to the community means a lot to both us and the them.”
As Christmas approaches it brings and end to 2018, but there is no question that all clubs in the Metro North conference are looking forward to the year ahead.
